FROM MICHAEL, continued
Unfortunately, the boorish behavior of some Republicans only made it seem longer…. if that was possible.
There is not enough space here to correct all the lies, half-truths, out-of-context falsehoods, and embellishments in Biden’s speech, but some Republicans, with their juvenile antics and clownish behavior, managed to, once again, succeed in taking the focus off of Biden’s misappropriation of the facts and credit, and the titanic scale of disasters from his policies, and put the focus squarely on their lack of dignity and decorum.
Elephants may never forget, but some in this class of Republicans, never seem to learn anything or lose an opportunity to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.
The President’s subsequent speeches covered the same trail of deception with phony pictures, positive platitudes, and fairy tales. In just a few years, the President has managed to take us from low prices, low energy costs, low-interest rates, and energy independence to historically high levels of inflation, higher borrowing costs, massive government subsidization, stratospheric cost of living increases, and dependence on tyrants and despots for energy. The massive growth of government and government spending and regulations, anti-free market, and short-sighted liberal policies are responsible for a colossal $31.4 trillion national debt and the fragile economic state we are currently in.
Most Americans disapprove of Biden’s policies and his presidency. Even most of the Democrats would choose someone other than Biden to run in 2024. They can see the icebergs clearly ahead.
Biden’s response… Stay the course.
With the anniversary of the movie Titanic, the image of a celebration on the bow of a ship destined for disaster seemed like the perfect metaphor.
Have a happy Super Bowl Sunday. (SIDEBAR: I used to be a Pro football fan, but sadly, I remain a Miami Dolphins fan and they haven’t played professional football in a long time.)
FROM MELISSA:
Thanks for subscribing! We’ll be back with a new cartoon tomorrow, so please let us know what you think of Michael’s cartoons in the comments, or drop us a line at ramireztoons@gmail.com
I hope to begin regular Zoom meetings with Michael shortly which I will share here first. Michael now edits Sunday posts and writes about the process of cartooning. As a paid subscriber, you receive the full text of Michael’s personal Sunday reflections first. We are so grateful you have chosen to take this journey with us as we continue to add elements to the newsletter.
As you can imagine, we receive many emails, and Michael reads everything you send with one exception; I regret that I cannot share your cartoon ideas. As an editorial artist, everything he publishes must spring from his own mind, though I will happily forward your good wishes, complaints, concerns about issues, or opinions about politicians who seem to make a mess of everything. Michael tries to keep his finger on the pulse of America, so what’s on your mind? What can we do better? Let us know in the comments or by email. We love hearing from you and will do our best to respond as soon as possible.
Best,
Melissa Praemonitus (editor and personal manager for Michael P. Ramirez)
