The Southwest airlines meltdown —Michael
The Worst of Times, The Best of Times
By Melissa Praemonitus
On Dec. 26th, Mr. Praemonitus and I arrived nice and early in snowy Detroit for our dream vacation flight to Florida…via Southwest Airlines. Yup, we were among those who waited for hours through several delays, then finally, the inevitable cancellation. Calls to Southwest were quickly disconnected, and I wasn’t allowed to log into the website. Hundreds of desperate would-be passengers languished in long lines by lunchtime, and my better half wondered aloud if the debacle would be on the news.

We were lucky - I was able to pay through the nose for the last two tickets on a Delta flight that afternoon and arrived, exhausted but happy, in the free state of Florida by evening.
Yesterday, I enjoyed a delightful visit with James Golden, aka, Bo Snerdley, whom readers will recall as Rush Limbaugh’s call screener, sidekick, and long-time friend. It turns out that James is just as warm and intelligent, humorous and kind as you suspected, and his recent book, Rush on the Radio, reflects a lot of love and insight into what went on behind the scenes in the production of the greatest talk show in history. It’s a deeply personal and thorough account that may bring a few tears to your eyes but make you smile as well. Get it here.
