NONE OF THE ABOVE
I remember reading somewhere during the Covid pandemic that the U.S. had 4% of the population but 25% of the coronavirus cases. That seemed hard to believe at the time, but given the nature of our modern society, the density of some of our cities and towns, the relative ease of daily interaction between people, and our high per capita income status (the U.S. is number 7 in the world which makes transportation affordable and shopping practicable), it makes sense.
It made me think of other comparisons.
Like why, with a population of 331.9 million people can’t we have better quality and more intelligent people representing us in Congress? There are only 535 of them. You would think with the pool of millions of Americans to select from, the choices would be better. The average American must certainly be smarter and more mature than the nitwits in Congress that make headlines every week.
America needs to do better in selecting their representatives. Maybe, we just need better guidelines.
I was telling a friend of mine that we should look at Disneyland and the height limitations for their rides and apply it to the political arena. At the entrance of the Indiana Jones ride, they have a sign that reads:
“You have to be at least this high to ride this ride.”
They ought to have similar signs at the entrance of our Capitol building that read:
“Your I.Q. has to be at least this high to enter politics.”
We need to double the number of signs for the White House…
