Editor’s Note: I love it when Michael draws in a different style and really showcases his versatility. The sepia tone of this cartoon gives it a historical feel and turning the White House into more of a gladiator colosseum was a creative and clever choice. I also really enjoyed coming up with the headline, since I am especially partial to puns and this one fell into place nicely. I spent a lot of time feeling frustrated that the big cats weren’t lions (because then I could do a pun with “lyin’”) but ultimately the D.C. reference is both funnier and totally unaffected by the precise species of big cat depicted.
Presidential pardons as an institution have great potential for abuse and it’s important to remember that the law should apply equally to everyone, whether they are related to a president (as with Biden’s son Hunter) or supportive of him to the point of committing property damage and bodily harm.

Thank you for supporting Michael’s editorial cartooning and writing at this great independent space. And thank you, most of all, for standing up for free speech and truth, both of which are under attack everywhere.

As you can imagine, we receive many emails, and Michael reads everything you send with one exception: We regret that we cannot share your cartoon ideas. As an editorial artist, every original cartoon he publishes must spring from within his mind, though we will happily forward your good wishes, concerns about issues, or opinions about politicians who seem to make a mess of everything. Michael tries to keep his finger on the pulse of America, so what’s on your mind? What can we do better? Let us know in the comments or by email. We would love to hear from you and will do our best to respond soon.
