Michael Ramirez: Low Friends 3-5-25
From America's Premier Editorial Cartoonist
Low friends. -Michael
Editor’s Note: Michael’s great with caricatures. Vladimir Putin is even recognizable in a cowboy hat because Michael always draws Russia’s president with the same prominent, spade-shaped nose and close-set eyes. I’m consistently impressed when the essence of someone’s appearance can come through with just a few really expertly-placed lines.
As an independent, I’m always vaguely disappointed and vaguely hopeful regarding our politicians. Whatever your personal feelings about President Trump, only those steeped in woolly denial can still pretend that the democrats aren’t continuously handing him massive gifts on silver platters. Sitting there like obstinate, surly toads during last night’s speech and refusing to applaud people their own policies hurt didn’t make any sort of revolutionary point. It just made them look petty, mean, and immature. A female athlete with a traumatic brain injury and a 13-year-old cancer patient apparently failed to move these hardened hearts, and here I was thinking it couldn’t get more absurd than wearing pink in solidarity with women a day after unanimously voting against the executive order to keep male bodies out of female sports.
I would love to vote democrat again in my life and feel proud of it. The highest ideals of democrats are appealing and admirable. This country has had some remarkable and honorable democratic presidents. But lawmakers throwing little temper tantrums will accomplish nothing for them except for ensuring consecutive Vance terms, so they should seriously consider rejoining the adults’ table sometime soon if they’re sincere at all about reaching across the aisle, or even those supposed ideals they claim to champion.

Thank you for supporting Michael’s editorial cartooning and writing at this great independent space. And thank you, most of all, for standing up for free speech and truth, both of which are under attack everywhere.
We’ll see you soon with more of Michael’s work, and as always, let us know what you think in the comments, or drop us a line at ramireztoons@gmail.com
As you can imagine, we receive many emails, and Michael reads everything you send with one exception: I regret that I cannot share your cartoon ideas. As an editorial artist, every original cartoon he publishes must spring from within his mind, though I will happily forward your good wishes, complaints, concerns about issues, or opinions about politicians who seem to make a mess of everything. Michael tries to keep his finger on the pulse of America, so what’s on your mind? What can we do better? Let us know in the comments or by email. We would love to hear from you and will do our best to respond soon.
Best,
Melissa Praemonitus (editor and personal manager for Michael P. Ramirez)
