MSU mass shooting live updates: Communities mourn victims at vigils across Michigan —ABC News
From Melissa: Monday night at 9:16 PM, a friend texted that her daughter was locked in a room at the rear of Target across the street from an active shooter on the campus of MSU. My friend asked for prayers. The sprawling campus, which houses 19,000 students, is 15 minutes from my home, and as the tragedy unfolded, we waited helplessly as police searched amidst the nighttime chaos for the murderer who would kill 3 students and injure 5 others. My daughter shared with us police scanner traffic as officers finally seemed to close in on a suspect, and when they relayed that he had shot himself… we all breathed a sigh of relief but slept uneasily. This morning, every school in the area was closed for the day as our community grieved for the young people and their families, and parents, including my friend, retrieved their traumatized kids from dorms or watched over the seriously injured at the local hospital. There are no words that can describe the sorrow visited upon those affected, and I may have more to say at some point when appropriate, but for now, here are the names of precious children who will never grow older, please keep their families and friends in your prayers tonight.

Alexandria Verner, 20, junior
