WHITE HOUSE INSECURITY by Michael Ramirez, July 17, 2023
I just watched Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One this weekend. Tom Cruise never fails to deliver. These movies are a high-octane, action-packed delight, with incredible stunts and fictional technology that can decipher any secret, mimic any person, and identify any culprit.
The latest edition of the Mission Impossible movie series lives up to that formula and delivers more.
In the real world, even the most advanced security in the most secure residence in the world cannot seem to tell who might have brought a bag of cocaine into the West Wing of the White House. The Secret Service announced that they have closed the investigation, and failed to find a suspect. Their justification was with 500 staff members and visitors who passed through security during that weekend, it’s not worth the time to interview them all.
Seriously?
If it was a bag of anthrax, you would be certain the Secret Service would find out where it came from…. Fortunately, it was only cocaine. Only Cocaine? In the White House? Fortunately?
The first question that comes to mind is, who has had access to the White House and has done cocaine?
The more important question should be, why doesn’t the White House security know who it is? We are talking about the office and residence of the President of the United States of America, the leader of the most powerful nation in the world, after all. Shouldn’t every square inch of the White House be covered with multiple layers of security?
Believe me, if this was a Mission Impossible movie, not only would they know who did it, they would have prevented it from entering the White House, blown up the illicit criminal laboratory that produced it, shut down the evil network that financed it, and rounded up all the people who were even remotely affiliated with it.
In the world of Mission Impossible, Ethan “Hunt” and his IMF (Impossible Mission Force, not the International Monetary Fund) team of “hunters” would have already lifted fingerprints off the bag and “hunted” down the suspect.
But in the real world, they have no idea where it came from… not a clue… or do they? Maybe it will eventually be revealed in Dead Reckoning part two, scheduled for the Fall Election of 2024.
