Editor’s Note:
This was my MONDAY cartoon this week but, as often times happens with the immediacy of today’s 24 hour news cycle, we are constantly interrupted with “dramatic” BREAKING NEWS.
Networks today, seem to have breaking news every half hour… “Breaking News: Joe Biden said something entirely comprehensible…” Okay, maybe that’s a bad example, because that would be breaking news… “Breaking News: Marjorie Taylor Greene said something half intelligent…” Now, that could also, conceivably, be breaking news, because intelligence, or even half intelligence is not something I would remotely ascribe to Marjorie Taylor Greene… but you get the point.
More often than not, the Network Breaking News it is something entirely insignificant or inconsequential delivered under the smokescreen of “breaking news” by obsequious networks hyping trivial events for ratings.
But… in this case, Biden dropping out of the race was really historical breaking news! Enough so, I broke out my crayons and whipped up something on it for Monday… the Biden Getting the Hook cartoon.
I had already finished and filed this cartoon, and sent it out to clients from my syndicate and replaced on the pages of the Review-Journal.
Just think of it as a little bonus, while I’m filling in for Melissa.
Again, thank you for your friendship, subscriptions and your patience
Stay ‘Tooned and best wishes,
-Michael Ramirez
Sketch:
I included the sketch the other day as a teaser… Think of this as “breaking news!”
This is the rare circumstance where the sketch differs a little more than usual from the final. As I’ve said before I usually see the entire image in my mind’s eye, who happens to be a much better artist than I, so I capture the essence of what I’m seeing in the sketch, just to remind myself of the visual concept, and they come out pretty much the same…
Here is the sketch again… so you can compare it to the final.
Line Version:

Thank you for supporting Michael’s editorial cartooning and writing at this great independent space. And thank you, most of all, for standing up for free speech and truth, both of which are under attack everywhere.
We’ll see you soon with more of Michael’s work, and as always, let us know what you think in the comments, or drop us a line at ramireztoons@gmail.com
As you can imagine, we receive many emails, and Michael reads everything you send with one exception: I regret that I cannot share your cartoon ideas. As an editorial artist, every original cartoon he publishes must spring from within his mind, though I will happily forward your good wishes, complaints, concerns about issues, or opinions about politicians who seem to make a mess of everything. Michael tries to keep his finger on the pulse of America, so what’s on your mind? What can we do better? Let us know in the comments or by email. We would love to hear from you and will do our best to respond soon.
Best,
Melissa Praemonitus (editor and personal manager for Michael P. Ramirez)
