Michael Ramirez: A Losing Hand 11-12-23
From America's Premier Editorial Cartoonist
When the intellectually indolent cannot defend the indefensible, they pull out the race card.—Michael
Michael will now extend his editorial cartooning influence twice a week to the Washington Post, and those cartoons will appear here after a week. For an early peek, please use this link to view them. Michael draws seven cartoons a week, plus his weekly essay.
It’s been a very long weekend…as Michael prepares his essay for a special post on Monday, we both want to express our gratitude for your kind encouragement and support. I was quite shocked by the emergence of a very nasty pro-Palestine-from-the-river-to-the-sea mob on social media and elsewhere regarding the Human Shields cartoon. I screen the mail, and it’s scary how ill-informed (and crazy sounding) the pro-Hamas fanatics can be. Today’s cartoon fits my mood perfectly.
A special thanks to Scott Johnson at Power Line Blog, who has been particularly supportive and writes for the only website I read every day.
I will have a more normal posting for you tomorrow at Noon EST and will publish Michael’s latest essay as soon as he is finished. We are on opposite sides of the country, but we’re both wiped out. Good night, and thank you!

We’ll return tomorrow with a new cartoon from Michael. Thank you for your subscription - it supports Michael’s editorial cartooning, writing, and this great independent space at Substack.
As always, let us know what you think of Michael’s work in the comments, or drop us a line at ramireztoons@gmail.com
I’m still working on recording regular Zoom meetings with Michael at his studio, which I will share here exclusively with you. We are so grateful for your support as we continue to add elements to the newsletter.
As you can imagine, we receive many emails, and Michael reads everything you send with one exception: I regret that I cannot share your cartoon ideas. As an editorial artist, every original cartoon he publishes must spring from within his mind, though I will happily forward your good wishes, complaints, concerns about issues, or opinions about politicians who seem to make a mess of everything. Michael tries to keep his finger on the pulse of America, so what’s on your mind? What can we do better? Let us know in the comments or by email. We love hearing from you and will do our best to respond soon.
Best,
Melissa Praemonitus (editor and personal manager for Michael P. Ramirez)
